Over 40+ years, I developed an approach: a deliberate process to turn pain into power. I started scribbling rules on paper when computers weren't common. Now it's digital. The rules aren't magic—they're tested, refined, and enforced.
Here's how I do it:
- Face the Pain – Name what's hurting you or those around you. No excuses.
- Define Non-Negotiables – What will you never tolerate? What must you protect?
- Write the Rule – Clear, one-sentence truth.
- Test Ruthlessly – Live it. Fail fast. Adjust.
- Enforce It – On yourself first, then others. Boundaries aren't optional.
- Evolve – Review regularly. Life changes; so can your code.
This approach gave me a rock-solid marriage, a daughter who respects me, career wins, and the chance to mentor guys in the same boat.
